DOG JORING & CART RIDES

"HIKE!" DOGCART DRIVING IN THE VIENNA ALPS

Hop on a dogcart (a dogsled on wheels) and venture on remote forest trails with the pulling power of British Lab Obsidian and Alaskan Husky Viera. This tour is a fast and far reaching journey through marvelous backcountry. Although our dogs can pull up to 4 to 5 times of their own body weight, steep sections will have to be overcome on foot and by pushing the cart.

DOG JORING UP INTO THE VIENNA ALPS

Dog joring means being pulled by a dog. When dog joring, dogs are wearing a harness that is connected with a lead to a belt around a person's hips. Thus trained dogs will pull on the lead which helps to reduce physical intensity of a hike by a third as well as increase the speed of travel.
No matter what season it is, our Alaskan Husky Viera and our British Lab Obsidian will help carry the weight and will take turns in pulling you up the Rax, Europe’s largest high plateau, the Schneeberg, the easternmost alpine (over 2000m high) peak of the Alps, or the Schneealpe, a vast protected wildlife area. Adjusted to your hiking skills and level of endurance, we will choose the perfect ascent route up to the wild and magical landscape of the Rax Alpe.

If you are a beginner or simply prefer to hike on the plateau we will take up the cable car to the Rax at the additional cost of the tickets for yourself and the guide. Depending on your preference, we can either then hike down or again take the lift.

DOGVENTURES: ACTIVITIES FOR DOGS

If you’re looking for someone, that doesn’t only take care, but also positively engages with your dog, then you’ve found the right place. Mackenzie is dog trainer and has lived with at least two and sometimes up to four dogs since early childhood. Georg is certified in Animal Protection and Animal Caretaking, has lots of experience with dogs and is a passionate musher. Our two dogs Obsidian and Viera are trained to be therapy dogs, are very sociable and engaging with other dogs and accept them as players in their pack. We’ll adjust our activities to the needs of your dog, be it games in the garden, walks, mental exercises, short or long hikes. Upon request we can also do obedience training with your dog or support him in learning desired behaviors. To ensure a high quality of our services, we only take two dogs in at the same time. Gladly we’ll have your dog stay and play with us for more than one day; your dog can stay overnight, over the weekend and also during the week.
